Mission Project

I started the year by announcing that I wanted our students to get more involved in service especially with the Hispanic community.  The challenge to this idea has always been to do something other than raise money.  I wanted to do things that tied into our curriculum.

I have been working with the 4th and 5th graders on verb conjugations and I think this idea would be great, but I need some help.  The idea is that the students would create a verb conjugation chart and have pictures of themselves and their families actually doing it.  For example, if your Sunday school class goes to a nursing home to sing to the people their the student would take a picture of themselves singing for Yo canto (I sing).  They would take a picture of themselves with their parents singing for Nosotros cantamos (we sing).  I have some ideas for verbs that would be great, but I need locations to partner up with.  Some of the verbs I am thinking of are: to help, to sing, to cook, to clean, to wash, to paint, to buy.  I would love to have some help with this idea.  I think it could be a lot of fun and really show the kids how we can serve the community to give glory to God.

Let me know if you can help!

Quizzes

Hey friends!

I wanted to let you know that the 1st round of quizzes for the 2nd quarter are heading home this week.  The only exception to that is Mrs. Dennison’s class because they will be taking their quiz tomorrow.  Quizzes are for 3rd -5th grade classes.  Congratulations to Mrs. Buckner’s class as they will be receiving brownies tomorrow during class because they received a class average of a 98%.  I promised them that if they got an A average they would have a brownie celebration and they lived up to their side of the bargain.  It looks like Mrs. Warlick’s class will get the same treat.  I hope to have good news to report for some other classes soon!
